A briefing was held at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, where Minister of Health Damir Osmonov commented on the appeal addressed to the President by the Association of Medical Universities of Kyrgyzstan.

Medical universities have proposed introducing a transition period of at least six months after the approval of new accreditation standards to allow institutions sufficient time to adapt.

The Minister emphasized that the introduction of state accreditation is part of a broader reform aimed at improving the quality of medical education:

“The quality of this system directly affects public health, patient safety, and the future of our healthcare sector. I would like to emphasize that state accreditation is not a sudden measure. It has been a consistent process underway since August 2025.”

According to him, preparatory work included interdepartmental cooperation, on-site evaluations, and awareness efforts among higher education institutions.

He also noted that extending the accreditation deadlines is not currently under consideration:

“The quality of medical training is a matter of national security. Mistakes in training specialists are unacceptable.”

The Ministry stressed that the reform aims to ensure unified standards, transparency in quality assessment, and to strengthen international trust in medical diplomas.
