On August 1, 2025, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic between Minister Erkin Checheibaev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Kyrgyzstan, Birender Singh Yadav. The discussion focused on expanding cooperation in the field of healthcare between the two countries, including experience exchange, professional development of medical personnel, and the introduction of new technologies, including in the field of traditional medicine.

Special attention was given to cancer care. The Indian Ambassador informed about ongoing efforts to supply the radioactive isotope Cobalt-60, which is necessary for the effective operation of the "Bhabhatron" device installed at the National Center of Oncology and Hematology of Kyrgyzstan.

Additionally, the Indian side proposed considering replacing the "Bhabhatron" with a modern linear accelerator “Siddharth”, which is widely used in leading oncology clinics.

The Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan welcomed the proposal, noting that if new equipment is delivered, it is planned to be installed at the Osh Regional Oncology Center. “We are interested in making modern radiotherapy methods available to patients in the south of the country. This will significantly improve the quality of medical care for cancer patients,” emphasized Erkin Checheibaev.

Both sides expressed their readiness to implement these initiatives in practice and highlighted the importance of further strengthening cooperation in healthcare between Kyrgyzstan and India.
