Tutoring program at OIMU

A peer tutoring support program has launched at OIMU, where senior students help juniors adapt to the learning process more quickly and meet academic requirements with confidence. This is practical academic and language support provided by those who have already completed the same courses and clearly understand the faculty’s current standards.

The tutors—senior students from relevant majors—assist with understanding challenging lectures and assignments, preparing for tests and exams, improving academic writing, and developing public speaking and presentation skills. The process begins with a brief assessment and a discussion of the student’s goals, followed by an individual plan with clear tasks and progress checkpoints.

During the sessions, lecture materials and practical tasks are reviewed, typical problems are solved, laboratory and course papers are prepared, and written work is checked and refined. Special attention is given to academic vocabulary and terminology so that students can understand the subject more easily and express their ideas clearly in class.

The learning format is flexible: online or offline, individually or in small groups. Tutors provide regular feedback, assign homework, and run short interim quizzes to adjust the program when needed and ensure steady progress.

The “senior → junior” approach offers key advantages: affordability, real hands-on experience, up-to-date knowledge of instructors’ expectations, and the ability to explain complex topics in a simple, clear way. Beyond academics, tutors also share practical advice on adaptation, communicating with instructors, and effective time management—especially valuable for first-year students.
