OIMU lecturers uses a modern approach to assessing students’ practical skills—checklists for assessment and peer assessment. This tool is widely applied during practical classes in clinical disciplines and helps ensure objective and transparent evaluation of students’ performance in key procedures and clinical skills.

During practical sessions, instructors assess students using pre-approved criteria reflected in the checklists. This format allows teachers to systematically record each step of a skill, highlight strengths, and identify areas that require improvement. In addition, peer assessment is also used: students evaluate their classmates’ performance using the same criteria, which supports the development of clinical thinking, attention to detail, and responsibility.

Importantly, students are informed in advance about the assessment procedure, criteria, and the rules for working with checklists. This ensures consistent requirements for all learners, increases motivation for high-quality preparation, and contributes to the development of strong professional competencies.
