A New Article by Osh International Medical University Faculty Published in a Scopus-Indexed Journal
According to the research project of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic on the theme: "Assessment of the Physical Status of Children and Adults Considering Constitutional, Ethnic, Gender, and Age Factors in the Modern Conditions of Kyrgyzstan", a new scientific paper has been published by the Osh International Medical University teaching staff in the persons of Sakibayev K.Sh., Dzholdubaev S.Dzh., and Tashmatova N.M.
The article was published in a Scopus-indexed journal that is positioned in the third quartile (Q3). The present study offered a comparison between the anthropometric measurement and bioelectrical impedance analysis methods in somatotype assessment. The authors observed differences and low levels of agreement between the two methods. The results suggest that depending on the objectives of the evaluation and the interpretation of results, a suitable method should be selected to evaluate somatotype.
These findings will serve as a basis for further research on morphological characteristics associated with fat distribution (amount and localization) among the adult population of various regions of Kyrgyzstan. Special attention will be given to identifying endogenous (ethnogenetic, gender- and age-related) and exogenous (environmental, climatic-geographical, and socio-economic) factors that may increase or reduce the risk of excessive weight gain and obesity development.
The publication of this work highlights the active involvement of OIMU faculty in addressing pressing scientific challenges and strengthens the university’s position in the international academic community.
