On March 18, 2026, Osh International Medical University held a grand celebration of Nooruz, one of the brightest and most significant holidays for the peoples of Central Asia and many countries of the East.

The festive event was officially opened by the Rector of OIMU, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor R.M. Dzhumaev. In his congratulatory speech, he noted that Nooruz symbolizes renewal, unity, peace, and good beginnings, and emphasized that this holiday holds special importance for the peoples of Central Asia. He also mentioned that Nooruz unites generations and preserves rich national traditions. The Rector congratulated the students, faculty members, and university staff on the upcoming holiday, wishing students success in their studies, new achievements, and confidence in their abilities, while wishing the university staff productive work, well-being, and further development.

The festive program was bright, rich, and truly full of celebration. Students presented national customs of Kyrgyz culture as well as cultural elements of countries where Nooruz is widely celebrated. As part of the event, traditional ceremonies such as “Alas Aitoo,” “Tushoo Kesoo,” and “Salam Saluu” were demonstrated, attracting great interest and a warm response from the audience.

A special atmosphere was created by the performances of international students, who sincerely and respectfully sang songs in the Kyrgyz language and also performed an Uzbek national dance. These creative performances became a vivid reflection of friendship among peoples, mutual respect, and unity within OIMU’s multinational student community.

The final part of the celebration featured exciting competitions in traditional national games. The girls presented the national game “Akyya,” while the boys competed in “Arkan Tartysh” (tug-of-war). All participants demonstrated enthusiasm, agility, and team spirit. At the end of the competitions, memorable gifts were presented to the most active participants.

The Nooruz celebration at OIMU became not only a bright cultural event, but also another confirmation that the university carefully preserves national traditions, supports intercultural dialogue, and creates a warm and friendly environment for students from different countries.
